Become part of the Information Retrieval Specialist Group .... Some of the benefits include: Please Note: That the Information Retrieval Specialist Group is currently in the process of changing its membership structure. As at the AGM held in 2008, the IRSG was required to change its membership structure to fall in line with the BCS regulations. This means there is currently two ways to join the IRSG, as a full member via the BCS, or as an affiliate member of the IRSG. Currently, all benefits of full membership will be provided to all types of members. Further note, that being a member of the IRSG does not mean that you are a member of the BCS, however to be a full member of the BCS-IRSG you must be a member of the BCS.

Full BCS-IRSG Membership

To become a full member of the BCS-IRSG, you need to join the . Membership fees start as low as £20 per year depending on the type of membership you desire, and you can then select the BCS-IRSG as one of your specialist groups for no extra charge. This will entitle you to all the benefits above and more.

Affiliate IRSG Membership

To join as an affiliate member of the IRSG, you can simply sign up to the IRSG lists for FREE via our online registration form. Currently, this will entitle you to all the benefits listed above, including receiving discounts to BCS-IRSG events.

The BCS is a member of the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies (CEPIS) and a registered charity.
The IR Group is a specialist group of the BCS and a European IR Specialist Group.
